What is a Segway ? How does it work?
The Segway Personal Transporter is the first of its kind - a self-balancing, personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Easy to use and operate, the two-wheeled Segway PT sports 5 high-tech gyroscopes that monitor your balance 100 times a second and automatically respond to your body's movements. To move forward, the rider simply leans forward. To stop or move backwards, the rider leans back slightly. The rider glides smoothly as the Segway PT senses where you want to go.

How do I learn to ride a Segway PT?
All first time customers are required to take a 15 - 25 minute on board training session to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Riders are trained on safe Segway operation, emergency stops, and our "Share the Road" policy. All riders are required to wear a helmet which is supplied free of charge.

Can I test drive a Segway for 5 minutes ?
We do not offer test drives. Take a tour it is fun!

Is it as easy as it sounds?
Yes! It's easier than riding a bike.

Where can I ride the Segway?
We will be keeping to the trail on the tour. We strongly stress that all Segway riders courteously "Share the Trail" with other bikes and pedestrians. It is the Segway rider’s responsibility to yield to pedestrians. Pedestrians have the right-of way.

How long, fast and far can I ride?
The Segway Tour has a top speed of about 10 miles per hour. A rider can average about 24 miles between battery charges. A fully charged battery will last with constant riding for approximately 6-8 hours. Riding times vary with hills, rider weight and speed. The revolutionary I2 and X2 models will be defaulted in “turtle mode”. Your tour will begin cruising at no more than 6 mph. After we cross the Sundial bridge and start the McConnell Arboretum loop, we will take you off “turtle mode” and bring you up to a possible 10 mph depending on your comfort level. You can enjoy the entire tour on the lower speed. On much more crowded days on the trail we may limit our speed accordingly for a relaxed cruise.

The Arboretum Glide is the introductory tour and lasts about an hour long including the 15 - 25 minute training. The Garden Glide tour lasts approximately 2 hours including the 15 - 25 minute training. The more adventurous River Glide tour in the afternoon will take closer to approximately 3 hours including the 15 - 25 minutes of training. We make frequent stops for pictures and there are restrooms along our route.
